Composition 2017 Neon, Philippe Caron
Measures framed: 26″ X 26″ X 1.5″
Philippe has drawn since he was quite young, always attracted by the shapes of nature and the physicality of the act — the whiteness of paper, fluidity of oil paint, the smell of turpentine. Caron’s career in illustration following his years of study in Paris at the Estienne School of Art and the book industry offering a proving ground for graphic experiments.
His illustrations have been featured widely in Marie-Claire, Vogue, New York Times, Esquire, Harper’s and used in fashion and commercial editorial projects including Chanel, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton.
Caron has teached for over twenty years at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, the Manufacture des Gobelins and the Studio Berçot.
His current pieces on display at Nickey Kehoe are an expression of Caron’s various explorations in form, line, gesture, composition and color — inspired by nature and many years of improvisation.
