Brazilian Triple Buriti Tray
Brazilian artist Sergio Matos works alongside artisans from the indigenous Amazonian community of Barcelos to create these baskets. Piassava, a fiber derived from native Brazilian palm trees, is soaked in mud for 4 days to achieve the basket’s dark organic color. The piassava is then braided using techniques that have been passed down through generations.
Due to the handmade nature of these baskets, no two are exactly alike and color and size may vary from basket to basket.Â
